Fresh Winter-Ready Colorways
Justin Saunders, the creative force behind JJJJound, introduces new "Charcoal" and "Pine" colorways of the New Balance 2002R, featuring weather-resistant GORE-TEX for winter durability. These additions to the collaboration offer sneaker enthusiasts stylish options that are also equipped to handle harsh weather conditions.
JJJJound official statement on the New Balance 2002R GORE-TEX
JJJJOUND has released an official statement on their website to explain the inspiration and description details on their upcoming 2 colorways of the New Balance 2002R GORE-TEX. JJJJOUND worked on their first New Balance 2002R on the Storm Blue colorway which was released back on October 26, 2023.
"This second iteration of the New Balance 2002r by JJJJound merges aspects of performance seamlessly into a contemporary design. Tooled to be accommodating to wintry urban demands, the shoe’s dim desaturated color palettes communicate its utility. Additionally, the classic suede and mesh upper is subtly balanced by the functionality and protection provided by model’s reflective properties and Gore- Tex® insulation."
Durable construction and design details
Crafted from a mix of suede, mesh, and leather, these sneakers are built to withstand harsh winter conditions with the addition of Gore-Tex treatment. The Black base is complemented by Light Grey and Green overlays, giving the shoes a collaborative and stylish look. Darker accents on the "N" logos, heel tabs, and lace lock add further visual appeal, while a Black rubber sole completes the design. With their robust construction and attention to detail, these sneakers are not only fashionable but also practical for winter wear. Furthermore, specific panels of the sneaker, including the N logo, toe box panels, heel tab panels, quarter tab panels, and laces, feature reflective materials.
Winter-ready collaboration for the season
This marks JJJJound's second collaboration with New Balance on the 2002R model, now featuring GORE-TEX for added functionality. The "Pine" and "Charcoal" colorways, designed with utility in mind, have been officially revealed by the Montréal-based studio. The sneakers will first drop via JJJJound on February 15 at 12pm EST for $190 USD per pair, followed by a wider release through New Balance website on February 22. Sneaker collectors and fans of New Balance and JJJJound can look forward to getting their hands on these winter-ready kicks, blending style and performance seamlessly.
Final thoughts on the upcoming JJJJound New Balance 2002R Charcoal and Pine
When JJJJound released their New Balance 2002R Storm Blue last year, collectors and dedicated fans showed some interest in the pair. However, this interest was somewhat tempered by the resale price soaring above $80 in the secondary market. Despite this, JJJJound has made a significant impact with their collaborations, particularly with the 992 and 990v3 models. Known for their minimalist design approach, JJJJound consistently delivers to their fanbase, and the upcoming 2002R GORE-TEX editions are no different. With the addition of GORE-TEX and a design tailored for all terrains, collectors and fans alike are expected to express their enthusiasm swiftly, leading to a rapid sell-out within minutes of the drop.
